For me, Lukáš Bártl’s photography exhibition captures one of the most beautiful periods of life—a time that perhaps everyone fondly remembers, if they’ve had the chance to experience it. What is it like to be “happily” in love? To feel the urge to discover and share almost everything with another person? To become a partner, a source of support, and eventually a parent?
Lukáš Bártl’s exhibition, titled One Plus Seven, touches on these questions. It is an intimate diary from the life of a photography theorist who, perhaps intentionally, throws all the rules out the window. He is in love and shoots one roll of film after another. The time to develop them comes only with the exhibition. And so begins another adventure: the unveiling of an archive spanning eight years of life with his wife and seven years with their son Matyáš. For me, the resulting exhibition serves as a reminder of the most important values and can be seen as a sort of “ode to love.”
