Eight years ago, a young documentary photographer named Imrich Veber began intensively documenting the environment at Marian in Opava, a facility providing social services to clients with intellectual or multiple disabilities. At the same time, the entire institution was undergoing (and continues to undergo) a transformation and a shift in the concept of social care, which then became the central theme of Veber’s series. The result is one of the most compelling documentary series produced in the Czech Republic over the past twenty years.
