The exhibition of photographer František Maršálek (1939–2020), organized in collaboration with the Fiducia Gallery in Ostrava, focuses specifically on his virtually unknown work from the 1970s, which drew on the visualism movement of the time and moved toward almost abstract, dreamlike images.
Maršálek became famous as a member of the legendary Brno photography group Epos, which, from the late 1960s, redefined balladically arranged figurative photography. His range, however, was much broader, spanning professional documentation of scientific experiments, aerial photography, and a more progressive form of artistic photography influenced by his studies at Prague’s FAMU. The exhibition is curated by Pavel Vančát. A publication of the same name accompanies the exhibition.
