The exhibition’s self-deprecating title stems from the artist’s lifelong feeling that she never pressed the shutter button at just the right moment. Visitors to the Valchařská Gallery now have a wonderful opportunity to judge for themselves whether this self-criticism is warranted. The artist is undoubtedly a keen observer who waits for the right moment. She waits for the moment when the subject momentarily forgets they are being watched by the camera—in those moments of inattention, a brief pause for rest, reflection, or daydreaming—and then she presses the shutter, capturing the person’s true essence. The central theme in Hana Němečková’s work is the portrait, and it will run through this exhibition as well.
