Iren Stehli photographed this distinctive Prague tailor for five years (1976–1981). During that time, she captured countless images not only of his work and home (a tailor’s shop, kitchen, and bedroom all in one room), but also of his social life, hobbies, and habits. The result is one of the most beautiful and tender series in the history of Czech photography. However, the collection speaks not only of the tailor Sláma, but also of the ability to live one’s life, even when the times are not exactly conducive to freedom and free-spiritedness.
The exhibition will be opened by Iren Stehli, curator Lukáš Bártl, and Robert Helbich, with musical accompaniment by Tereza Hill (guitar and vocals).
Opening on October 4 at 6 p.m.; the exhibition runs from October 5, 2017, to January 29, 2018.
