Photographer Dana Kyndrová has been exploring the theme of the Russian people for nearly forty years. Her aim was to create a kind of essay on the life of the Russian nation, spanning from the 1970s to the present day. A look at a nation that craves icons—whether saints or political figures. Russian messianism and nationalism, pathos and grandiosity. The renaissance of Orthodox Christianity and the desire to restore national self-confidence, which was shattered after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
