Vladimír Koštial (1912–2001) is a forgotten figure in the history of Slovak photography. His career began in the 1930s and came to an end at the start of the Normalization period. With his camera, he captured essentially everything that was happening in his region at the time—namely, in the vicinity of Tatranská Lomnica, or more broadly, in the Tatra Mountains. Koštial’s photographs thus possess not only undeniable artistic value but also great documentary value, and they rank among the greatest discoveries in Slovak photography in recent years. A representative monograph will be published in conjunction with the exhibition in collaboration with the Valchařská Gallery.
We cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition by Slovak photographer Vladimír Koštial, titled Tatranský pozdrav.
The exhibition opening will take place at Tiskárna Helbich and will be combined with the launch of the exhibition catalog.
The exhibition will be opened by Robert Helbich, the author’s son Vladimír Košťál, and curators Lucia Petrůjová and Lukáš Bártl.
The opening will be followed immediately by a BIRTHDAY PARTY, where we will celebrate five years of existence and activity together with all the artists who have had exhibitions at GV, their guests, and friends of the gallery and the printing house.
