Evžen Sobek is one of the leading figures in contemporary Czech documentary photography. As a student at the Institute of Creative Photography, under the guidance of Jindřich Štreit, he participated in, among other projects, the documentary photography series *People of the Hlučín Region*; his series *Ecce Homo*, a highly subjective view of the world and its universal values, went on to achieve international acclaim. From his work over the past few years, it is worth mentioning at least the series Home Sweet Home, Under Blue Sky, and Life in Blue. Evžen created his latest series in Dolní Benešov in the Hlučín region, where he returned after twenty years. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to judge for themselves how this distinctive region has changed—and how the artist himself has changed—as the new collection is exhibited for the very first time and also presented through a newly published book.
The exhibition will be opened by Evžen Sobek, curator Lukáš Bártl, and a multimedia projection of Tomáš Galle’s News from the Edge.
The book will be launched by documentary filmmaker and screenwriter Marek Sklář.
Opening: November 1, 2016, at 6 p.m.; the exhibition will run from November 2, 2016, to January 13, 2017.
